“Und jedem Anfang wohnt ein Zauber inne, der uns beschützt und der uns hilft zu leben.”
Herman Hesse
1955 - 2026
Christa was born on May 22, 1955, in Wien, Austria, just seven days after Austria signed its declaration of independence, marking a new beginning after the war. Perhaps it was fitting; her life would be shaped by resilience, creativity, and renewal. She grew up in Vienna and Weidling, with an orchard in her backyard that became her first place of wonder as she nurtured a lifelong love for nature and beauty.
At just fifteen, Christa met her first husband, Helmut Kuhn, and by seventeen they were married. They became parents to five children: Iris, Vincent, Jasmin, Viola, and Alice. Following their passion for photography, Christa and Helmut built a business together, turning her artistic eye into a way of life. Christa’s life in Austria was rich and vibrant; her friends and her children’s friends were always welcomed as family.
In 1998, the family moved to Sedona, Arizona, where they founded OneWorldArt, serving artists across Arizona. Surrounded by red rocks and open skies, Christa developed a deep connection to Native American art and spiritual traditions that resonated with her own beliefs and sense of purpose. The land grounded her and allowed her spirit to flourish.
While in Sedona, Christa met Steve Hansen, and they married in April 2009. They shared a deep love for photography and the arts. On Saturday nights, you could find them catching a movie at the Harkins Theatre in Sedona. A few years later, Christa became a midwife and was honored to guide women as they became mothers, opening her heart and welcoming families just as she always had.
In later years, Christa found lasting happiness with Steve Henes. What began as a chance connection over bees grew into a relationship rooted in love, meditation, and shared adventures. They made a home in Prescott, where Christa found a new community and a sense of peace at the ranch. Together they travelled the world, visiting elephants in Thailand and returning to Austria after 20 years. These experiences filled her with wonder and gratitude. She often shared with family that this chapter of life brought her the deepest happiness she had felt in a long time.
Christa had a rare gift for caring for others. Friends became family, and her home was always open and full of warmth. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her creativity, and the love she shared so freely.
